Nose To Mouth Lines
Nose to mouth lines, also known as Nasolabial Folds, are normal and an inevitable sign of aging, but unfortunately they can cause the face to look tired and add years to your appearance.
As the skin and it’s supportive structures become weak due to aging, and repeated smiling, nose-to-mouth lines appear then deepen and become more pronounced over time.
What are Marionette Lines?
Marionette lines are deep-set wrinkles, starting at the corner of the mouth and running downwards onto the chin. They are similar to Nasolabial Folds and are usually treated in the same way.
Can I Prevent Nose to Mouth Lines?
Aging of the skin is inevitable, but limiting your exposure to the sun will help to slow down aging. Don’t sit out between 12 and 3.00, when the sun is at its highest. Wear a good sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat when in the sun.
The big frustration, however, is that these lines and folds are also caused by normal facial muscle movement such as smiling. So unless you choose the wax-dummy look, there’s little you can do to prevent them occurring!
Treatments For Nose-to-Mouth Lines
Nose to mouth lines are a natural part of the ageing process, but some people may choose to get rid of them for cosmetic reasons. There are a number of treatments available to address nasolabial folds, including surgical and non-surgical solutions.
Dermal Fillers
Dermal Fillers work by injecting a special solution of Hyaluronic Acid under the skin to plump and fill out Nose-to- Mouth lines, thus making them less visible.
This treatment offers near immediate results (they develop from 48 hours following treatment) and lasts up to 12 months. It involves injecting the Filler with a fine needle to fill the lines.
Microneedling
Wrinkles occur due to a depletion of collagen and elastin in the skin caused by age or sun damage. The effects of this change in the skin’s texture and conditions can be improved by Microneedling.
Microneedling is a treatment that uses tiny needles (not injections) to cause microscopic punctures in the skin. This encourages the body to create a wound healing response and, as your skin repairs, the production of collagen and elastin is triggered to give an almost immediate plumping effect.
Skin appears brighter and younger looking.
The best results from Microneedling are seen after a course of treatments.
Chemical Peels
Chemical Peels work by harnessing the power of naturally occurring acids and active ingredients to deeply exfoliate the skin.
The treatment stimulates new cell growth and encourages collagen production, helping to reveal clearer, fresher and firmer skin.
Self-Help For Nose-to-Mouth Lines?
Some people swear by the use of facial massage or facial exercises, such as face yoga, can help reduce lines around the nose and mouth. But it takes time and dedication.
Following a strict skincare regime, incorporating a moisturiser containing peptides and vitamin A, plus a good exfoliator, won’t actually remove the lines, but can help soften their appearance.
What Treatment Is Best To Get Rid Of Nose-to-Mouth Lines?
The most appropriate method of treating Nose-to-Mouth Lines depends on the nature of the lines and wrinkles you have.
